记者：据报道，第17次中美国防部工作会晤近日在华盛顿举行。美国防部发言人称，美方一直在工作层面与中方保持接触，双方计划于2024年初举行海上军事安全磋商机制会议。请问中方对此有何评论？
张晓刚：关于第17次中美国防部工作会晤，我们已发布了信息。中方对发展中美两军关系的态度是一贯的、明确的，那就是在平等和尊重的基础上开展交流合作，推动构建健康、稳定、可持续的两军关系。今年是中美建立外交关系45周年。我们希望美方树立正确对华认知，尊重中方核心利益和重大关切，切实与中方相向而行，共同把两国元首旧金山会晤重要共识落到实处。
Question: It’s reported that the 17th China-US Defense Policy Coordination Talks was recently held in Washington D.C.. The Pentagon spokesperson said that the US side maintained contact with the Chinese side at the working level, and the two sides planned to hold the Military Maritime Consultative Agreement meeting in early 2024. What’s your comment on this?
Zhang Xiaogang: We have released information regarding the 17th China-US Defense Policy Coordination Talks. The Chinese side’s attitude towards developing China-US military relations is consistent and clear. We advocate bilateral exchanges and cooperation on the basis of equality and respect to build a sound, stable and sustainable mil-to-mil relationship. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the China-US diplomatic ties. We expect the US side to develop a right perception of China, respect the core interests and major concerns of the Chinese side, and take concrete actions to work with us in the same direction to follow through the important consensus reached by the two heads of state in San Francisco.
